2009 Christmas Party and "Wings" presentations.
On 18 December Bunbury Flying School put on a Christmas party for students, friends and their families. We had a turn up of between 70-80 people and it was a good night. We had a selection of roast meats that were cooked here, and a delicious variety of fresh salads, coleslaws and bread rolls to go with it, all presented buffet style. This was followed by Pam's famous Christmas pudding (highly recommended) with brandy custard. All this was liberally washed down with appropriate liquid beverages. There was no shortage of food, and everybody seemed to be having fun if the noise and laughter was anything to go by! Background music was provided by Peter Mulhern from Serpentine, thank you Peter.

We also used the evening to present some excited recipients with their "wings". Those presented with their RA-Aus wings were :- Phillip Dey, Ben Scott, Brett Campany, Carlos Romeros, Wayne Fisher, Mile Andric, Campbell Greenwood, Kerry Scott and Evan Jackson.
Those presented with their PPL wings were :- Nicole Grigo, Raqual Collins, Scott Percival, Will Owen, Cole Darley, Nu Vo, Vince Zampogna, Brendan Dirks, Brad Ogden, Matt Collins,Adam Byass, Chris Hardacre, Caleb Macguire, Brad Stein, Daryl Willis, Bob Main, Michael Fowler, Cameron Jackson, Luke Howe and Robert Hodge.
All these people have worked very hard to gain their licences and wings and deserve to be very proud of themselves. We are certainly very proud of them and wish them all a lifetime of safe and happy flying. Some of these pilots are already carving out aviation careers for themselves, others are out there flying with friends and family. The very best to all of you, and to those still working towards all this. It's all worth it.
Photos of the evening can be viewed in our photo gallery "Xmas Party" and were mostly taken by Darren Collins, thanks Darren.
1st Solos
We also have a group of people who went on their first solo flight during December. This is a big and exciting step and one which is never forgotten. They are:
Sunday Dec 13 - Andre Speck
Monday Dec 14 - Mark Tilbrook
Friday Dec 18 - Andrew TeBrinke
Tuesday Dec 22 - Geoff Watene
It gets even more interesting from here on folks! Keep on working at it.
Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers continue to be very popular. These are a very good option as they have a 12 month validity, and can be purchased for TIF's, scenics, Nanchang aerobatic flights, credit towards someone else's flying, anything that we provide at Bunbury Flying School.
The beautiful weather and holiday season has also brought an influx of visitors who just like to pop in and have a close look at aeroplanes and share a cuppa with us, always welcome. Bunbury Flying School prides itself on being an open and friendly place, and child friendly too. Bring the kids in, they can have their picture taken sitting in an aeroplane.
The warmer weather has also meant the water bomber and fire spotter planes have been busy. When you see what these pilots do to protect our land you can't help but feel a sense of awe and respect. We have a fantastic area to live in and play in here in the South West and we can all do our bit to keep it that way. We wish everybody an exciting and safe 2010.
